By mastering keyword research, you can improve your website’s visibility and attract more targeted traffic. In this comprehensive guide, we will cover everything you need to know about keyword research and how to use it effectively.

What is Keyword Research?

Keyword research is the process of finding and analyzing the words and phrases that people use to search for information on search engines like Google. These keywords are essential because they help search engines understand the content on your website and determine its relevance to a user’s search query. By targeting the right keywords, you can increase your website’s visibility and attract more qualified traffic. Lastly, with the massive growth and advancement of social platforms in the last decade, it is critical for people to consider YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest as a type of search engine. Keywords can be utilized for these other platforms as well however their search range is contained to the platform itself.

Keyword research is crucial for several reasons. First, it helps you understand your target audience and their search behavior. By knowing what keywords they use, you can create content that addresses their needs and interests. Second, it allows you to identify high-volume and low-competition keywords that you can target to improve your website’s search engine rankings. Finally, keyword research helps you stay ahead of your competitors by identifying new and emerging keywords that you can target.

How to Conduct Keyword Research

There are several methods you can use to conduct keyword research. The most common approach is to use keyword research tools. These tools provide valuable insights into keyword search volume, competition, and related keywords. Some popular keyword research tools for SEO include Ahrefs, SEMrush, and Moz. Additionally, you can also use Google’s Keyword Planner, which is a free tool that provides keyword ideas and search volume data.

Another method is to use a keyword research PHP script, such as Keyword Tool API, which allows you to generate keyword ideas and search volume data programmatically. This is a great option for SEO professionals and developers who want to automate their keyword research process.

Best Practices for Keyword Research

When conducting keyword research, there are a few best practices you should keep in mind. First, focus on long-tail keywords, which are longer and more specific phrases that have lower search volume but higher conversion rates. These keywords are less competitive and can help you attract more targeted traffic. Second, consider the intent behind a keyword. Are people looking for information, products, or services? Understanding intent can help you create more relevant and valuable content for your target audience.

What are the first steps to get started on your new business?

Congrats! You are embarking on a path to financial freedom and maximizing your true value. You are a risk taker and a game changer. You are going to create a beautiful and thriving business to help all the people you love — and all the people you have yet to meet. You’re going to positively impact the world with your gifts.

So you’re probably thinking, how can I get my little egg of a business idea nurtured, fed, and ready to launch?

You’ve come to the right place! We are here to help you grow.

Here are my first steps on creating the digital presence of your business — and pro tips on how to get started.

  1. Don’t wait for the online piece to be 100% figured out. Start without all the pieces. All you need in order to start is your first customer. Who is ready to pay you for your work? Lock them in.
  2. Create an agreement with your first client. If you have a service or skill that people are requesting – then start drafting agreements, proposals, and contracts. Provide the value to your first client, then get paid.
  3. Define and own your brand. If you already have a brand idea, define the brand name and brand mission. Who are you here to help? Everything is in a name! Decide on the brand name and then purchase the domains and social handles.
  4. Simplify the product or service offering. Simplicity is KEY. Can you explain your product or service offering to a six-year old? Does the name capture the essence of your product or service? Choose a name that clearly describes your business or service.
  5. Purchase the digital domain and social handles. Buy the website domain and create the social media handles according to your brand. Try to reduce your channels to three for simplicity.
  6. Find the right resources or marketing consultants to help you build, create, and launch your digital presence. Own the process of your own build. Steps to register your new website for search

It is no easy task to find out what are all the basic steps to starting your website. Everybody has their own idea. I have done this hundreds of times for friends, family, clients, and so I am going to break it down for you very quickly so you know what is the best approach for you!

First you will need to purchase the domain.

Second you will need to host the domain with a hosting service (GoDaddy, Dreamhost, BlueHost.) WordPress does this too, but look for the monthly cost that you are willing to account for.

Get organized about where and who you are making these purchases with because they will provide add-on services and fees as you get through the “shopping cart” of building your website and so you want to be cautious. I compare it to knowing what you want to buy before you go to the store. That way you are more powerful as a consumer in the process.

Know what you want to buy: (1) domain name, (2) hosting services. Then you are going to need a CMS platform. This can be WordPress, this can SquareSpace this can be Contentful, the list goes on. Sometimes CMS platforms also provide abilities to purchase the domain name and be the hosting service. But know that these things are separate — and so if you decide to buy all in one, the cost may be higher due to the convenience.

Once you have all these items figured out, you will need to build the content and design. Layout, copy, and email creation can take hours to weeks. AGAIN – less is more. Get refined on the message, the copy, and remember — this is just to capture your future customers. This is just a page to anchor people to your brand. The website is 1 moment of a customer’s journey with you. They come to specific actions. (See my article “the top 5 reasons why people visit your website“.)

Then you need to make your website ready for Search Engine Optimization. (See my article on Getting your new website to rank on Google).

More to come . . .
